Dr. Audilaxmi,  Principal Scientist, Directorate of Sorghum Research, Hyderabad and the winner of the ICAR  Punjabrao  Deshmukh Outstanding Women Award, 2010 visited Junagadh Agricultural University on April 07, 2012 as a part of post award programme of motivating women scientists and PG and UG Girls students. 

The Programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Chetanaben Mandavia, Professor and Head, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, JAU, Junagadh. The inaugural session  was presided over by Dr. A. V. Barad, Principal, College of Agriculture. Dr. R.R. Shah,  Principal, College of Veterinary Seience and Dr. K.A. Khunt, Principal of Agri- Business Management were also present. Prof. Lataben Raval, Assistant Professor, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, JAU, Junagadh.

Thirty students participated in the Essay Competition. The topic was ‘ Women in Science and what are the obstacles faced by them?’ Three prizes were given. There was very lively and active interaction among women scientists and girls students  with Dr. Audilaxmi who  were highly motivated.
